Hi Bart -
I got mine last Friday and had a chance to play with it over the weekend. First impressions are quite good. Takes a bit of getting used to and you have to train it to your voice but that is fun in itself.
Interesting note - I posted a few questions to the support email and got answers even on the weekend. Not bad.
The install went well - no surprises. I did a complete install and got a lot of stuff that I consider overkill - for example, stuff for the Sopwith and Gliders, etc. The full install puts a whole bunch of checklists and commands for all the default a/c which is OK if you fly them - my personal preference is not to use a lot of them. However, reconfiguring VoiceBuddy is easy.
So far, I've been mainly using it for ATC communication and simple things like gear, flaps etc. Having fun while I'm trying it out.
One drawback, which the tech support told me they are working on for a future release is - it will not work in conjunction with RogerWilco so using it in multiplayer flights with RW enabled would be a problem.
All in all, my first impressions are quite favorable. I notice that it learns your voice patterns as you go and the accuracy of recognition increases as you use it.

Gday HTH,
Thanks for the reply.I dont really fly the default aircraft either. For GA stuff I only use DF aircraft or the F1 Meridian, and the PSS A330/40 is my chosen steed for RPT flights.Do you use any of these aircraft and how have you found them with VB?
No, I don't use those but I fly the p-38, F-101, 727, etc and it went fine. There is the capability to customize VB for individual a/c but I haven't gotten into that yet. Just browsing through the procedure tho seems simple.
And, in response to another poster - VB is a speech recognition tool and can be used with any program that supports speech recognition with the proper interface.
For now, I'm happy just using it with FS9.

Hey Bart,
Well, I really did't like it at first, mainly because I only purchased it for the purpose of using with the ATC and it was difficult to filter through all the other stuff,I rather do everything else myself. So after several attemps and getting some support from eDemension, what I did was to delete all the calls and added new ones just for ATC and trained them. It works great and very pleased with it. It's doing what I wanted it to do for me.

Important corrction. Voice Buddy only works with FS2004 and FS2002. It does not work with any other program. VB recognizes that those two programs are installed and integrates with them. It will not work with CFS2 or 3, for example. eDimensional is working on deliverying versions of VB that integrate with other programs. VB is much mnore than merely a voice recognition program.
Read my review again. I have tested them all and VB is unlike anything out there.
You did not have to delete anything. Could have just added your custom calls. You can also adjust the VB playback volume so that it does not interfere with hearing ATC.

I'll bow to your experience on this but it seemed to me that the docs for the speech recognition module indicated uses other than VB with proper interface. Not at my system right now so I can't be more specific. Didn't appear that it would do it natively tho.
