    Default Paint only in Safe Mode

    I can't get my airplanes to be painted. The only way they will have paint is if I run the sim in "Safe Mode". When in safe mode the graphics are greatly imporved but the frame rate is terrible as is the sound and other characteristics. I would be greatly appriciative of any help anyone can provide. I'm running a Pentium 4 with 512 megs of ram and an ATI Rage 128 Pro 32meg video card. I never had any problems running 2002 and from all reviews I've read, I don't think I should be having these problems. Is it something I'm doing wrong. I've been through all the recommended troubleshoots. Please somebody help....I really want to fly this simulator as it's meant to be...

    by running it in safe mode you are not loading your hardware drivers, so obviously that is where your problem lies, have you tried loading the game in software mode or windowed? what operating system are you running? have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in Windows, if yes did it run then? is it only the planes that are untextured or do you have other textures missing? does this apply to all planes or only addon versions? have you tried converting the offending textures to DTX3 or even 1, have you tried reduding the number of texture mip maps to 1?

    just noticed your vid card only has 32megs (thought it was 128 on first reading), despite what it says on the box this is unlikely to work unless you are using very low settings;

    Your graphics card is a big limitation. Secondly, you might check for updated drivers for your MOBO's controller chips, i.e., Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi, etc. I recommend you ensure you are running DirectX9.0b also. Press start, run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the DirectX Diagnostic stabilize. Check the version of DirectX on the System tab page. If not DirectX9.0b, visit Microsoft Windows Update and download it. If it is DirectX9.0b, select the graphics tab and ensure the following are enabled, DirectDraw, Direct3D, and AGP accelerators. If they are grayed out, then you need to update the MOBO's controller chip drivers. If they are enabled, test each function with the test buttons provided.
