    Default Pedals and Yoke

    Well,

I have had it! I am now looking for the best upgrade for a yoke and pedals for flight sim. I mostly fly FS2002 and sometimes FS9. My system is

    566 Celeron
    256MB RAM
    Windows XP Pro

It is slow, but I am looking to upgrade. For something to run FS9 with justice. If I were to buy the CH pedals and yoke, would it be a good upgrade, even on my current system? What are the general prices for these(it is coming up to X-mas and I might be able to talk the wife into it, like she needs to see me playing FS more!) I am looking to buy something that will support my current system and be able to upgrade to a new system easily.

    Thanks all,

    Tony

you have a slow system tough.

I remember when I bought the yoke and used it with FS2000 (yeah it was back then), I couldn't fully enjoy it because when the frame rate is slow, you think the plane doesn't respond to the force you apply on the yoke, so you apply MORE force in hope of effect. The plane does respond a second later but with more violent results then needed (because you overforced it).

As long as you're getting decent frame rates now, you will be able to enjoy having the yoke and pedals. In my opinion, the CH gear is the only way to go for the price. Anything beyond that and you're looking at $1000 for the pair. Be sure to get the USB versions and they will certainly be compatible with your next system.

You may also want to check other products that are of course priced more but are made of the quality you pay for.

PFC, I think the web site is www.flypfc.com , has a wonderful set of of the foot peds. You can really feel the engage and disengage of your dif brakes ect...

    Yes they cost more.

I have both the CH peds and yoke and the PHC set up ,

For the bucks in my situation a frw years back when money was tight I got CH set up along with the Trottle quad and was ahppy.

AS I could once the first Item from CH came in the realism was such I made money saving decision's every day to step up as soon as possible.

Agian CH make a great product. I am simply letting you know my impressions of the impact of the more expensive hardware.

I do not know and it is none of my bussiness of your situation.

I can say I will pull out the CH now and then as to stay familure and the fact I can stick the yoke in the suite case as I travel durrin the week keeps me from taking out too many trees.

I think if you you start w/ CH andd experiment later, will serve well, but I am and old stck in the mudd.

I hoe you have good results.

    PS,

I understand goflight is comming out with a yoke and then peds, I have seen nothing offical but the statement was made from they phone number into there cs/ tech support line.

    only reporting.

You may want to take a raincheck from Santa. CH has announced that they are fairly soon to introduce a 6 lever twin engine power quad. Check their website for timing and $$.

Mine are Flight Link, industrial strength systems and they cost a lot more than the CH price will be.

Have to chime in that the PFC hardware referenced above is expensive, but you will be using long after this computer, and your next one after that are dim memories.

Holy cow! I'm excited about the throttle quad. Thats the only thing I dont like about my CH combo; the GA type throttle levers up on top of the yoke. I'd love a seperate 'heavy' aircraft type.
While we're on a related topic; I purchased my yoke in Febuary. I've started hearing a spring inside making a little noise when I'm pulling up. Is this anything I need to get concerned about? I havent noticed any problems using it. It may just be normal aging.

    thanks
