HELP!!!

I've just upgraded to FS9 and have had some prblms that I've not been able to figure out.

1) I downloaded "Crew and Cabin Announcement Gauge" which was orig designed for FS2k2. After adding the file, I started receiving an FSsound.dll error at starup. The file still worked, but I experienced screnery flickering and other issues so I removed it.

Is there anyway to avoid the error message? I've determined that if by moving the slide option under weather from extreme to med, that stoped the flickering and what appeared to seem as a complete white out while in the Cayman Islands.

2) System crashing. After taking off, I opted to reply the take off to view how well I did. The system freezed and crashed. This has happened prior to and after removing the file above.

3) Having read some like concerns, One individual suggested updating the FS9.cfg file to read Fssound.dll=1. Unfortunately, even after selecting "display known file types", I could not find a file named FS9.cfg.

Does this mean I need to uninstall and reinstall FS9?

First turn on the "Show Hidden Files/Folders" from the Tools-Folder Options-View, then you will be able to find the FS9.cfg file here (note your particular user name will be included in the path as shown)

C:\Documents and Settings\"User NAME"\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

Then add the following lines to the FS9.cfg file using SQUARE brackets instead of the round ones I have show:-

(OLDMODULES)
FSSound.dll=1

Save the file - the error message will no longer show on start-up.

There can be many causes for crashing - first steps are to make sure all your drivers are the latest and greatest - latest version of DirectX installed too. If trouble persists after this post your system specs to assist others in helping you out.

If you are on Win9x, the FS9.cfg file is in the folder C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

It is only in WinXP that the file is within the C:\Documents and Settings\ folder.
