  1. Default * * * CH FLIGHTSTICK PRO USB PROBLEM....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use the CH Flightstick Pro USB, CH Pro Throttle USB, and CH Pro Pedals USB with FS2004. When I first installed the sim months ago, the controls worked fine. I recently moved my computer to a new house, and after having plugged everything back in, I now have a problem with Flightstick. When the stick is deflected all the way to the left or right (aileron movement) the ailerons will react as they should, but will then snap back to the neutral position after about a second...even though the stick is still deflected. All other stick axis work fine.

I still have FS2002 installed, and it does not happen in that sim. So it seems to be something in FS2004. Does anyone know anything about this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Regards to all,
    David

How do you have the other controllers set up? If you're not using the Control Manager to combine them and haven't reassigned things yourself, then the ministick on the throttle is going to be Joystick 2 X/Y and FS will assign Elevator and Ailerons to it as well as the stick, then respond to whichever moved last. If you've got the FlightStick off-center, say, and the ministick bounces by one count, it will throw the axes back to center until the the stick moves again. You either need to combine things into a single controller with the CM, or go to the Flight Sim Controls Assignment Dialog and take the assignments off the throttle (and any other controllers that might have ailerons, elevators, rudder, etc. so that they're only assigned to the axis you actually want to use.

In addition to the above, I would also recommend you check to make sure you don't have two throttles, one on the side of the stick and the Pro Throttle.

Mind if I pitch in here for some help too?

Running CH Pro Pedals, Pro Throttle and 568 Combat Stick all via USB.

My snag is that intermittantly I experience aileron glitches and on final approach (so it seems)the glitch can cause a high degree of right hand aileron input. This can be caught by rapid opposite aileron after which normal flight can be resumed - providing you didn't ding the daisies. In autopilot this never happens. From external view the aileron glitch cannot be missed.

I have removed elevator/aileron activity from the mini stick but this interesting activity continues...Are you saying I should isolate the combatstick's throttle wheel too?

    Thanks chaps

I have had the same problem: the inputs of the various throttles are interfering. Check your control setting menu for all your controllers and make sure every parameter only has input from one controller.

Pete Dowson's FSUIPC has an option that will cancel this type of sudden spike in control inputs (among other things). Maybe worth a look if this happens to you a lot.

If you haven't changed the Combatstick's throttle axis then you have two throttles which can interfere with each other. Also very annoying when you're taking off and the throttle suddenly dies. Might I recommend you use the throttle wheel for an elevator trim wheel instead. Very handy if you like to fly w/o AP like I do.

    Hi Scott

Excellent suggestion might I say! I will allocate the Combat stick throttle to elevator trim... and also thanks for advising on the FSUIPC control spike eliminator. I must admit I'd never noticed it before!!! Now employed and all went well on test flight.

NOW dummo time.. To allocate the elevator trim to the combat stick throttle wheel.. D o I do that via "Button Keys" or "Joystick axes". I assume it is thru Joystick axis. I see that Throttle axis is Z and the elevator trim has no allocation. Do I simply cancel the throttle axis and then apply the Z axis to the elevator trim???

Please advise as I dont want to screw up what I might not be able to unscrew...

    Many thanks

Screw away. You can always change it back easily enough. If you double click on the elevator trim axis, I believe a box will pop up and ask you assign an axis. Just move the Combatstick throttle wheel and it might warn you that the axis has already been assigned to throttle and ask for confirmation that you really want to change it. Just say yes and there you go. I'm just doing this from memory so I might be off a bit. Just play with it a bit, you can't do any permanent damage. If you accidently assign something to the wrong axis just reassign at.
