    Default AFCAD2 Airport Files

    Howdy,

I didn't find an answer here using the search function, so maybe I'm the first to ask it (or just plain ignorant about FS9 file structure; that's a real possibility!):

When unzipping AFCAD2 files into Addon Scenery/Scenery folder, some zips create a folder (usually named for the ICAO of that airport) containing the .bgl, while others simply drop the .bgl folder directly into the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder. So I'll get something like this"

    Addon Scenery/Scenery/KMIA/kmia.bgl

    Addon Scenery/Scenery/ktpa.bgl

Bottom line: does it matter if the .bgl file is in its own folder or not?

    Thanks for the assistance.

I'm taking an educated shot at answering this one, based on the assumption that the scenery and facility databases are built in FS9 by apparently referring to entries in the Scenery.cfg file. I would think that unless you have a specific entry in the Scenery.cfg file that actually points to the folder:- Addon Scenery/Scenery/KMIA it would NOT be included in the database and hence will be ignored.

By default the Addon Scenery folder has it's own two sub-folders "Scenery" and Texture" and is included in the database building just like any other additional scenery package folder you pop in there with similarly titled sub-folders (Texture & Scenery). By default the Scenery.cfg file does contain a reference entry to the "Addon Scenery" folder so is treated in much the same way as all your other addon packaged folders you happen to pop in there.

Hope you follow the reasoning. Best way is to check out the area and take a look, it will be pretty obvious if FS9 is using the new stuff I guess (hopefully).

If I'm wrong it won't take long for some kind soul to chew me up.

If it is in its own folder it will need to be activated within the scenery add menu. If it is dropped simply into the Addon Scenery\Scenery folder by itself, when FS is started up it will automaticly be updated with the new file as the Addon Scenery folder is already activated within the sim.

Hope I made some sence here...

EDIT: Draky beat me to the post button. LOL, Good answer there !!!!

Are the new AFCAD files supposed to be treated as regulary scenery files now?

I opened a new folder at addon scenery/scenery named AFCAD, giving it the highest layer priority, and there I send all my new AFD2 files, I found is a good way to have them separate from the rest of my addon sceneries.-
