Default Eaglesoft Aircraft in FS9 - Why Oh Why?

The boyz at Eaglesoft have produced some really nice aircraft (I'm talking of the Premier 1; Beechjet 400A and Beechjet 400XP here) which are a credit to them in my humble opinion.

BUT - why oh why do we have to follow the "rules" of loading up each aircraft only in 2D cockpit mode!. A number of times I have inadvertantly called on these aircraft in other views resulting in a complete crash of FS9 and reboot of the computer, sure I am not alone here. These fine aircraft are payware products and well worth the outlay when you do get them loaded correctly but it really does annoy me when they cause problems like this.

OK so I should follow the rules and usually do remember but I do feel that when we pay for a product it should be reasonably idiot-proof.

    Any others agree or otherwise?

It's the complexity of the jets. It's a minor incovenience, and something I forget to do too.

Really, when you get down to it, it's not a big deal.

It's not really a big deal but it is an acknowledged problem and it deserves a patch. Presumably, it shouldn't require a complete retooling of the code to fix. There's no reason that the add-on guys need to follow MS's lead and refuse to make patches.

If you read the accompanying notes, Eaglesoft have explained why this is ! From what I recall (I don't have the document in front of me) you need to load the plane in the 2D view so that all the gauges initialise properly. I don't understand all the technicalities, but I believe it is to do with the coding that allows the gauges to work as they do.

Given the quality of Eaglesoft's work, it seems to me a small price to pay that, to reap the benefits, you have to follow some simple loading instructions.

If your default setup is configured to take you to the 2D cockpit then there is no problem. This is the obvious choice if you like to start in a cold dark environment. Get in the cockpit and go through the check list to crank her up.

BTW, I don't personally use the cold and dark routine, but had my default set to the 2D cockpit long before the later, more complex models demanded it. It just was the most logical place to start a flight.

If this is all you can find to complain about with the Eaglesoft models, then I guess they did a pretty daggone good job.

Thanks gentlemen for your support and patience with our airplanes:-) The loading issue you mentioned is indeed due to the complexity and interactivity of the guages.
We may reprogram all the relevent gauges for these aircraft in the distant future but please don't hold your breath as it would require many more hours/days/weeks to do and would sidetrack our current work.
We simply must forge ahead on the CII and CX that folks are demanding.....which by the way are currently able to be loaded from any view while maintaining complexity:-)
I say currently because the gauging is not completed on the CII or CX at this time....it remains to be seen whether we can assure "any view" loading at this point in time:-)

I also think that they make a nice product, but wish that they didn't require special treatment. I guess that is just the way it is and you either live with or without it.

I myself have had frustrating problems using the GPS in the BeechJet 400A. If I try to open it, FS9 crashes. I've tried everything under the sun to get it to work but I can't. They tell me it is a Microsoft problem. It confuses me that this only occurs in their product.

Maybe someday I can get it to work on a different PC, but because of the frustrations, I've shelved the Beechjet and marked it as a learning experience.

    Hey Ron!

Thanks for your explanation - I can certainly live with this, guess I'm a perfectionist at heart. The planes are ace! and keep up the great work!.

And to the guy who reckons I was complaining, it was more about my own forgetfullness rather than critisizm of the group and I did go some way to say just that in my initial post.
