Looks like you got a corrupt file there bud.
I had the same problem...I forget exactly what i did but you have to creat a new logbook, by going to File->View logbook(?)->Then from the screen I think you can create a new log. After I did this...I used that logbook for a while until it inadvertently switched back to my original, hope this helps...

If you have choosen the option to log flight time then it looks like your FS9 is searching for a logbook called (whatever that says above) .
In your fs9.cfg file is a section called LOGFILE=(What ever it says here it will look for that file in My Documents/FS file's
Change the line to read LOGFILE=Logbook
and then create that file in the My Documents/FS file's folder
If that file called Logbook is not already in that folder then you could create it by just using Notepad to create the new file and rename it Logbook.
Sorry if the file paths are wrong but im on a comp that aint got fs9 installed so cant check it exactly :7
EDIT- if it is a corrupt file like crow357 said then run ChkDisk or ScanDisk and then defragg your harddrive to make sure you aint got any more corrupt files.
Same thing's happened to me several times (see http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID21/6899.html). Seems to be a known FS2004 problem, among us flight simmers, at least.
If you're handy with Windows Notepad, open your FS9.CFG and find the logbook entry (probably looks something like mine did: "LOG_FILE=þÿÿþþÿÿþþÿÿþ..."). Change it back to "LOG_FILE=LOGBOOK" (or whatever you named your logbook).
Hope this helps.

right, wheres fs9.cfg LOL, i'm not seeing it in the FS9 folder..
If you're running Windows XP, then your FS9.CFG file should be in:
C:\Documents and Settings\profile name\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9
If you're running Windows 98, then I'm not sure where it would be. Probably in your root FS9 folder.

I dont have that option, I just have UserData...and it's not under that either...I hope I'm not being a pain in the #####.
Read the FS2004 FAQ on this forum..it has the instructions for reading/accessing the FS9.cfg file
Jim
If its win98 then the file is in c:\windows\application data\Microsoft\FS9
Or if you got multiple accounts with win98 then it will be in c:\windows\profiles\ (your current account name) \application data\Microsoft\FS9
If you can't see the file then make sure you choose View hidden files in the View\folder options
then click on the view tab and under Hidden files choose show all files
Here it is, it was hidden hehe, sneaky little folder!
