Thread: "OE" removes attachments in my email

Default "OE" removes attachments in my email

Often when I receive email in which the sender has added an attachment, rather than the attachment being in the header, I have the message: "OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your email:" and then names the attachment.

Is there a way to remove this feature. The attachments are almost always something I have requested.

    Thanks:

Well, this is slightly off topic, but does have an easy answer.

Click-Tools-->Options-->Security tab--remove the check mark from the "Do not allow attachments--xxxx" box. OK your way out and you'll be all set.

    Thank you guys!

I see what you are talking about, and removed the check mark by the phrase you described.

it is probably an executable file being attached. for example a file with any of the extensions
    .exe
    .com
    .bat
    .pif
    .cmd

to attach an executable file to an email, and trick less knowingly people to double click and run the file/the program, is one of the most usual way of spreading viruses.

I think it is a good feature to remove attached executable files!

if you really want someone to send you a program, simply ask them to pack the program with winzip first!

if all the email programs in the world disabled the "feature" to attach executable files, 8 out of 10 viruses would not exist!
