Thread: Water effects...

    Default Water effects...

Apologies if this has been posted before.

I can't turn water effects on....FS will not let me. When I turn them on, FS turns them off.

Anyone have any ideas? My water looks like something out of FS2000...

I've heard rumors that turning the 3d clouds off and on again fixes the problem.

Maybe it wasn't 3d clouds. I remember changing something in the weather panel. I'll check when I get home again.

Also, there is another post kicking around about someone using OceanFX to get it working, so that might be more helpful.

You can not have Terrain detail and Water effects sliders full right at same time.(Actualy, nobody can)

Terrain detail slider needs to be higher than zero, and lower than max. Also, water reflections only show up in clear weather from what I've been told and what I've seen.
Side note: it may be my imagination, but my clouds look better when water effects are full left (disabled).

It doesn't HAVE to be Clear weather.
Just as long as there is no cloud layer with a coverage of 6/8 or above.

E.G.- Cumulus Broken 5/8 = reflections on water
------Cumulus Broken 6/8 = No reflections on water

    Try this:

In Settings, go to Display>Weather, set Global Weather to "Custom", set Cloud Coverage to "Medium".

    That should do the trick.

Alan ,you're right, I actually should havesaid "fair" weather, not "clear" weather. But I think visibility needs to be quite high too. I was using fsuipc to set visibilty maximum at 20 miles, and I had no water reflections even with 2/8 clouds.
