    Default joystick HEELLLLPPP!!

I just bought a new joystick finally after like 8 years, now i can control all this stuff from there instead of having to go to the keyboard its cool. BUT.......its a USB type controller and my rudder pedals are a CH product it has to chords one went into the back of the computer and the other went into my old joystick. The Question is How do i get my rudder pedals to work with my new controller,Or can i, (please say yes) they are plugged into different spots, one USB and the other just plugs into the sound card i think.

The CH Products web site states that

"YOU CANNOT MIX USB DEVICES WITH GAMEPORT DEVICES"

I believe your rudder pedals that plug into the sound card is a gameport device. I wish I could be more help. Maybe someone else has a work around.

I have CH flight yoke, and pedals for FS9....no problems. When I bought my USB flight stick, it had a rudder on the controllers, so the gameport rudders would not work. Something to do with digital signal, and analog signal is the way CH put it. Now, all I buy is USB game devices....force feed joystick, saiteck X-45, force feed Steering wheel...now I have no problems. Oh yea, only the CH yoke with rudder peddals in my game port .

I used to use a gameport MS Sidewinder PP with USB CH rudder and throttle for helicopters. No problem. Just make sure everything is showing up in the control panel under game controllers and works Ok. Then go into the Settings menu under Assignments click the Joystick Axes tab. Make sure to delete the rudder control from your stick if it has one. Check all the rest. Then back up and go into the sensitivities menu (it would be nice if they would finally combine these menus into one screen with 3 tabs) and check things there for each controller.

Ok guys apparently you say there is a way for this to work. Heres what i have seen. When i go into the control panel under game controllers i see the new USB joystick and thats all it doesnt show my CH rudder pedals which are plugged into my game card. So how do i get them to show up??? All i can choose from are a list of joysticks. And i have chosen 2 axis 2 button joystick and check ENABLE RUDDER PEDALS. But it will show my new joystick as "ok" and the other as NOT CONNECTED. SO how did you get both to work at the same time. I messed around in flight sim under controllers and tried to assign my rudder pedals to the rudder but it wont work??? ANY one have any ideas, apparently theres a way to get this to work??? One thing though my rudder pedals do have that extra chord coming out and nothing is connected to it, could that be the problem??

If they're the Pro Pedals there's no problem. Drop by the CH site and pick up the Analog Drivers (CHANLG08.EXE). You have to plug the pedals into themselves, the "Aux.Port" connector plugs into the "Joystick" connector, the "Gameport" connector goes to the PC. Check the Users' Guide that comes with the drivers, it has info on how to do it.

Once that's done, you can select Pro Pedals in the Game Controllers applet, calibrate them, and they should work okay in FS as pedals and toe brakes. For analog pedals, the "Reversed" checkbox should not be checked in the assignments page.

If they're not the Pro Pedals, you've got a bit more trouble. They'll work in FS, but somewhere it's cast in stone that a joystick must have X and Y axes for Windows to recognize it. Really, the easiest thing to do is to go buy a cheapo game pad, then plug it into the pedals. Set it as a 2-Axis/4-Button but check the "Rudders" box. In FS, you can unassign all of the game pad stuff and just hide it behind the desk or something. You'll only need it to give you buttons for calibration.

    Hope this helps!
