Black Screen of Death!!!

I need help. I just recently formatted my hard drive and reinstall WindowsXP. Then I installed FS9 again but now aparently for no reason I'll be flying along and all of a sudden...BLACK! My comp won't respond to anything I do. It will even do this when I'm not even flying just looking around the menu.

I have 2.5GHz HP, 512MB Ram, 64MB NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

Are you using the latest drivers for your video card ?

Not when I posted the message. But later I downloaded the driver from windows and I flew for like a half hour and it didn't crash. Could an out of date driver have caused that? I mean the monitor just stopped recieving signal from the computer. I hope that was the prob.

Is it an Intel or AMD chip?

Did you restore from the HP disk or just do a clean install from the XP install disk?

Did it do this before you did the re-format?

I completely formatted HD. My 80GB HD is partitioned. I don't have WindowsXP disk. It's all on the D:\. About the only thing that's not on D:\ is my video card. But FS9 hasn't crashed yet since I updated the driver. I think it may have fixed it. I don't know yet. I'll only know if it didn't fix it if it crashes again.

it has fixed it, it stopped responding because of the driver which is Windows Default driver which is designed to just show the desktop and things like that and not complex games with high graphics..
