I go to the square where the cities are (17000 plus)...I scroll down, I squint so I don't see clearly, point at random and click.
don't forget to set the time of day, sometimes is at night.
In other words...always a surprise.
If the dam thing is free...lets travel...whatta heck!

>MEIGS!!!
Sorry but Meigs is officially closed. The mayor had it closed in the spring of this year. This really upset the aviation community. So MS will have to remove it in their next version. This may be why they switched to Seattle.
Enjoy!

Tim,
What version of Directx are you using?
Thanks,
Ken
I started with FS5, but I didn't start useing it till probably when FSF95 was released. I don't know but it seems like I flew around their so much that now I have an emotional attachment to the airport.
It is in a nice spot with 3 major airports near and one of them with a sort of short runway.
Has to be Meigs.
Its always been by starting airport, for a small flight, or for testing purposes when I've been tweaking FS since FS95. It has a small place in my heart.:-cool
hopefully MS wont remove meigs from future flight sims. No other airport gives me the feeling that meigs does (alittle strange but who cares!!!!):-lol
I live within 20 minutes of Denver International Airport (KDEN, an airport with altitude!), so I use that one and Centennial (KAPA). I practice a lot of take offs and landings so I start at KAPA and take the short run to DIA. In real life there is something of a controversy about allowing jets to fly out of KAPA. Right now jets can't fly out of KAPA (even though FS9 seems to think so :) ). When practicing flying choppers I use KAPA as well because I found one building there, so far, that you can land on.
Hello, TW,
An interesting survey here.
My old crates continue to use the grass strip at Brooklands Aerodrome. John McKeon's fine scenery, egbl2k.zip, works great and looks great, even in FS9.
Brooklands is several miles south of Heathrow; Farnsborough isn't far; London sightseeing and the dive down into London City are only a short flight away.
I still visit Meigs occasionally, out of nostalgia.
All in good fun.

As I started with FS5, and MSFS was my first exposure to flying (under the tutelage of my dad), you could almost say that I learned to fly at Meigs. Plenty of crashes and hundreds, if not thousands, of trips around the patch trying to make it right really attached me to the place.
When I was ready for bigger stuff, such as an add-on DC-3, I would make a quick triangle of Meigs - O'Hare - Midway and back to Meigs.
Once my home base (McVille - P37) was included (FS98), I became 'virtually' based there as well. However, I still make a pilgrimage of sorts to Meigs at least once or twice a year :-).
