Thread: Challenging Approaches

    Default Challenging Approaches

What is your most challenging approach whether VFR or IFR? I just tried to land on a bridge approximately 50 feet wide using one of the Cessnas'. The bridge is located several hundred feet away Niagara Falls. Just when I was about to touch down on the pavement, I got the infamous building crash. And I didn't even crash into a building. (another MS flaw?) Anyhow, what's your most or one of your most challenging approaches. Maybe some of us could give it a try.

TFFJ, i belive is a very challenging approach. I landed the 737 in there with 5% fuel. It was unrealistic breaking action that helped me stop in time but it is defently an interesting airport.

Many interesting approaches in my log book:
    1. Kathmandu (Nepal), IMC conditions, with the Dreamfleet 737-400. One small mistake and you will hit the mountains!
    2. Courchevelle, visual approach in high mountain area. The runway is upslope ;-) and short. Take-off is even more challenging. Approach can be seen at: http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/dcforum...rum=DCForumID8

I keep saying I'm gonna try it but haven't yet. That is, landing a
small plane on the roof of the Superdome in New Orleans.

These aren`t FS landings but have you seen:

    - The landing on the main strip in Las Vegas in Con*Air
    - The landing of the space shuttle in the LA river in The Core.

I`m sure there`s more but I can`t recall at the moment.

    Hi!

There is some spectacular approches in Switzerland and this area, like the VOR/DME runway 32 in Bern-Belp (LSZB) and in Basle-Mulhouse (LFSB) runway 34, a VOR/DME too, the pattern is pretty near the runway!

    Enjoy!

In real life it would have to be the King Air into 58M, if you can even find it in all those trees, or W29 with a cross wind, but then you have a harder time getting out of those 3,000' strips with trees. In FS, I would have to say that airport in Greeland, I don't remeber the name.
