From Great to Dissapointment in two weeks

Hi All

I was having great fun with FS for a couple of weeks had it tweeked beautifully then all of a sudden i get bad shimmering across all of the scenery seems at its worst when the engine is running. I have tried everything to get rid of it as below, is happening on fs2002 but not as bad i the airports and buildings seem to flash IE the textures dont look stable and this happens in all views,i do not remember seeing this issue in fs2002 either

Full rebuild from scratch
Every driver known for the TI4800SE
Every combination of slider
Every resolution
FUll AA the lot

System
P4 2.6
1 gig ddr400
ti4800SE

I can not get rid of this dam shimmering, basically looks like a heat wave at ground level,at its worst when the plane starts moving but spot view seems to set it off, i am really over it, even went back to Harvery norman and now i see the same issue on the demo PC there, I would have noticed this over the last few weeks had the issue been there but it was not, i have no clue how to fix this but i hate it and it will stop me using FS2004, any thoughts

I noticed that I get the shimmering when I have mip maping over 4 on the slider. You might have already played with this but give it a try. I have turned off AA in both card hardware and in fs2004.

1.3 Ghz P4, 512mb, Geforce2 MMx 400, getting 20fps.

That would be my only suggestion also, whenever i go over 4 for mip maping i get shimmering textures. I am not sure if that is the same prob as you are talkin about but if you havent yet go ahead and give it a try.

That is not the problem, is your scenery always stable, do you see any shimmering at all, eveb the planes shimmer, wonder if my video card is stuffed, whatcard do you use

I get that shimmering with mip maping too. I have it set at 5. The AA dosen't seem to fix it either. Actually I don't think the AA dose anything for me, on my GF4 4200. I have the slider set at application in the Nvidia control panel.
