    Default EditVoicePack callsign recognition problem

    Hi all,

I just downloaded the new EditVoicePack 3.0 - many thanks to Lars by the way. But I still seem to have the same problem as I did with EVP in FS2002 it simply doesn't seem to be able to say "Swiss". I know EVP works, since the FS ATC now says Southwest for example. I configured all aircraft.cfg rightly: the identifier in EVP is "SWISS", the atc_airline in the aircraft.cfg is "SWISS". Same with "BRITISH". I wanted to change the British Airways Planes from "SPEED BIRD" to "BRITISH". That doesn't work either.

What do I do wrong? I don't know if there are any other airlines that don't work, I just tested those three. PLEASE help!

EDIT: --I posted that in the EditVoicePack forum too--

You would have to actually download a voice file that someone has made with the word "BRITISH" or "SWISS." Your FS will only say those specific phrases that are in the voice pack. If the phrase or word you are looking for isn't said on your flight sim, then you have to add it by finding it, downloading it, and entering it into your flight sim voice pack through EVP. It is a distinct possibility that the new EVP didn't come with those particular voice files in there as a part of the update.

Just click on IMPORT, then select the new voice file you downloaded. Click on UPDATE VOICE PACK, and then update your airline.cfg. That is it.

    I hope this helps some.

Unfortunately they are already in the EVP. Both "British" and "Swiss".

the speed bird thing is something that comes from the old BOAC days and is cool, (the Speed Bird was the BOAC logo, and the reg number G-BOAC is still used by one of the Concordes; the original SpeedBirds?)why do you want to get rid? If you want to though the word British is used by British World Airlines, whose call sign is British World, so i guess you could use the word british from that (don't ask me how), but it just seems a pity to lose the Speed Bird.

Might be you're right, but anyways, how do I make them appear? (esp. "SWISS")

Do you mean so you can select them as an airline when you are selecting a plane on the main menu? In other words, when you select a plane, you can select the option to change the call sign, the tail number, add "heavy," and so forth?

If so, just open your aircraft folder, and then open the airlines.cfg file and add them. IF they are in fact in your voice pack already, then add them to the aircraft.cfg file or in EVP, select "update airline.cfg." HOWEVER, and this is a big however, this will not activate the call sign persay. As long as the line in your "atc_airline=" line matches what is in your voicepack, you are golden. The aircraft.cfg is so that you know what is there, and can select it on the main aircraft select menu.

The three things to be concerned with is 1) Is it in the voicepack 2) Is the airline spelt correctly in your "atc_airline=" line 3) Is your airline.cfg updated so you can select it as an airline through the aircraft menu.

If those three things are aligned properly, then Flight Sim should say it.

And to continue the list: 4) Make sure you do not have a copy of your voicepack file (gvp) in the SOUND directory. :)

British Airways actually use both call signs, SPEED BIRD for their larger a/c & BRITISH for their regional a/c, such as the ATP, ATR, etc. BRITISH is already in the current EditVoicePack.

Actually that is not correct. British Airways only use one callsign: Speedbird (unlike in FS, it should be written in one word). It's the only callsign they are licensed to use.

However, a number of airlines fly with planes painted in BA livery. These planes are not owned, nor operated by British Airways. Examples of such airlines are Maersk Air UK (callsign "Blue Star") and British Regional (callsign "British").

So while the planes looks like BA planes, and pasangers probably think they are on a BA plane, these planes are operated by another license than the BA planes, and as the callsigns follows the licensed operator they use the callsings of the operator (OK, after THAT sentence it is clear to me: it's after midnight, and I should go to bed).

Well good news for me, it now seems to work. I did notice that ONE of the ProjectAI Swiss planes, the A330, was called "Swiss ...". I looked up the aircraft.cfg and noticed that its callsign (atc_airline) wasn't "SWISS" but rather "Swiss". Seems to me it depends on the capitalization (I know there's an english word for that, but I don't know it exactly). Anyways, I changed the callsign of my other Swiss planes from "SWISS" to "Swiss", and now it works perfectly.
Anyway, thanks to all for your help. :)
