If you've got a DX8.1 compliant gpu and you have DX9.0a/b installed then you WILL get water reflections, except on the MX series of cards.
Thanks. The reason I asked is because I know the MXs are only dx7 compliant but I've seen some MXse models that says they are dx 8.1 compliant. I have an MX that I just got, and aside from the fact that it crashes when I check T&L, I am getting pretty good performance. Now after purchasing I found out I have just about the worst specs of all the mx cards, SDRAM, 166mhz core clock, slowest of them all. I've been checking on some of the MXse models and can get a much faster one and if it's dx8.1 shouldn't it be able to get water reflections? I still can't figure out why it is when I check T&L I get crashes. If I leave it unchecked it will never crash but I get slower performance. I think it's a bad card. If I can get an MXse that doesn't crash and get water reflection too I'd be perfectly happy. As you can tell, I'm on a bit of a budget (OK, I'm just cheap).

A TI 4200 8x 64 meg just went for $60 on ebay. Upsets me because I spent $160 on the same card at Christmas!! That is what I would recommend. Stay away from MX cards.
Or for what les then what I paid......I could have got a
FX 5600 256MB,8X AGP /DVI/TV with a buy it now at $135
Cheap is one thing....So am I...But you get out of this sim, what you put into it.
Up to you...But I would not go the MX route
