Default "Flyable Dash & MD" - Anyone Else with this trouble

Having downloaded the zip file posted at Flightsim when I unzip the file there is obviously some errors with folders missing and files spread all over the place. Using some of my simple knowledge I sorted out most of the files and placed them in the proper folders which I created but there seems no texture files for the Continental Dash8. File is "flyable2.zip" anyone else found similar problems?.

Perhaps the person kind enough to take the time and trouble to produce this zip vcould take another look at it, great idea and would love to add these planes to the flyable list!.

Like you, I found it to be quite a jumble when unzipped. I may have had to get some files from FS2002, but I don't remember now. I got the Delta MD-80 set up, which was one of my main objectives, and put the rest off until later. I am mostly after the US Air Dash 8 for my MHT traffic.

Yes, it should be proof-read and up revved.

You are right. That download had all kinds of errors in the texture setup. I wrote the author and never got an answer. I hope someone tells us which textures go where. I messed up my MD and Dash 8 folder as result of trying to install that file. I can't even find the aircraft folders on the FS2004 discs so I can restore these A/C. <Bob>

Somebody out there must know where on the disks to look.

It also might help some to see the correct "before" directory and file structure. There's that old back-up thing again! Doh!

Bump - this file certainly needs a look at! If anyone else out there has been put off making a similar file to make the Dash8 and MD83 flyable then don't be!. Either the file posted required a rebuild or another one made before others mess up their originals.

Flightsim.com should also take a look at the posted file in my opinion and decide whether to retain it in the library, it obviously does not do what it says and folk run risk in the required procedures following an install to get it to work (if that's at all possible!)

    Grrrrrrr

I thoroughly agree with you. I could not even get an reply from the author. I messed up both planes and don't know where the files are in the disks. If anyone knows where they are - PLEASE! PLEASE! respond here. Thanks, regards, Bob.

The original planes are located on disk 1 (FS_DSC1 path), located in MSGAME1.CAB. Windows explorer won't help you make sense out of the cab file. You need a program like WinRAR, WinAce Archiver or maybe even WinZip to extract the plane files to keep them together. The top view is how the files look in windows explorer the bottom in Winace. In Winace just right click on the aircraft folder, and point it to where you want it to extract.

Sad to read about the lack or response from the original author of this file. I have had many a contact with folk clever enough to make the add-ons we all appreciate so much and all have been very friendly and willing to help me out.

In my humble opinion those who do post files do have some reponsibility despite the legal disclaimers all be it a morale one.

I don't think I'll be too keen on downloading anything else by this author.

If you're so pissed off with this guy just don't use his stuff, why don't you just do it yourself if you don't want to risk screwing up your aircraft with his stuff.
