As part of my own personal 'settling in' process for a new version of Flight Simulator, I like to go through and complete all of the flying lessons. However, they appear to be extremely buggy in this version!
I'm on the 3rd lesson of Student Pilot. Mr. Machado seems to like to make the airplane do really nutty things while trying to 'show me' how to do it. First, while he's demonstrating a climb, he goes WAY beyond the 13 degree limit, and causes the VSI to go through the roof, finally settling back to where it should be.
Then, he wants me to do a power off descent at 90 knots, all the while after saying, 'You'll only have to lower the nose a degree or three to do this'. To do hold 90 kts, with complete power at idle, I have to have like 10 degrees nose down! His instructions about the flaps aren't quite dandy, either. Half the time, the lesson breaks because I have to descend too fast to give him time to say what he needs to say because I'm having to hold such a nose down attitude.
Then, when climbing back to 5,000 feet, he nearly stalls the plane! Pretty consistently every time, too!
Now's the #####, I'm supposed to make a idle power descent while turning. Well, I do that, turning to the right at 20 degree bank while descending to 4,000. He doesn't instruct me (unless I'm really being deaf/ADD here) to turn to the left when I reach 3,000, but I read that on the screen. Well, I do that, and only a glimpse of the message "Fantastic Job!" flashes on the screen before going away, and from there on I'm set on a collision course with a mountain in the distance waiting for good ol' Rod to tell me something (apparently he's passed out from me making such steep descents!).
Thoughts/observations on this?
Kenneth
