Thread: We must complain loudly

  1. Default We must complain loudly

After the many complaints about fs2000, microsoft responded with fs2k2. We must do the same with 2k4. I'm not unhappy with 2k4, however I am feeling a let down. 2k4 is not fs2000, but It was rushed out and overly hyped. 2k4 is better than 2k2 but over all not by much.

Here is my opinion so far.

Weather is a major upgrade from 2k2. However I was flying in heavy smog with maybe 3 miles visibility and within 1 second it was clear skys. I thought this was eliminated. I guess only clouds dissipate slowly. However I still give 2k4 high marks for the weather.

ATC is improves slightly. One annoying problem with 2k2 is when flying vfr into a big airport 2k2 connects you directly to the tower instead of tracon. I thought this would be fixed in 2k4 but nope. ATC in 2k4 is not much better than 2k2.

GPS is improved. I haven't used it much so far but I like what I see for now. Thumbs up.

Over all graphics. Some graphics like runways and taxiways are improved, but others are a step backwards. The water sucks. The autogen have few more buildings and trees. The grand canyon is exactly as in 2k2, no improvements. I would give only a slight improvement in this area.

I was expecting more improvements but that didnt happened. Microsoft had a shorter amount of time to develope this version. Microsoft will have extra time to develope 2k6 and we should insure they do a better job.

It's not so much about complaining loudly. Lets not be whiners about our issues, rather make it known what is wrong with the sim.

No matter how much we complain or praise FS2004 I can almost guarentee there will be a FS2006.

Maybe we can do something positive to help MS fix a few problems. A new topic could be created on this forum for nothing put pic posts of missing bridges, buildings with missing textures on two sided (I found that one), and so on, etc. And tell MS to monitor that topic. Now on the screen shots, we have to press shift z so that the co-ordinates will be listed, etc to tell the scenery designers where they are.

It would be a topic not for ranting and raving, but one to truly help MS fix the problems and maybe come up with a a patch or greatly improve the next version of FS and make it a true "10" of a sim.

    What do you think?

    Again, dunsul,

16 missing/broken/incomplete bridge pics and counting. Keep 'em coming people.

And if needed, I can expand and add another gallery for other scenery issues as well.

IMO the water HAS been improved. I think the game is generally better all round.

Of course that's just my opinion! But flying out of Seattle Tacoma the first time I played looked great! :)

"After the many complaints about fs2000, microsoft responded with fs2k2"

Microsoft doesn't give out new versions due to the loudness of peoples complaints.

We all know this isn't perfect, and I don't know why this upsets people. No other version I have ever owned (Back to FS4) has been perfect. Why can't people just be happy with what they have? Granted, give Microsoft your heart felt opinions through their Flight Sim contacts, but don't complain.

I've been reading the postings for a while and lots of people are having problems. The reality is that FS2004 will not run the same on all machines because of the hardware involved or simply because of overall system issues.

If you ask me, did we make progress with this new version..?? My answer will be yes, definitely. Could it be better..?? You bet, everything could always be better.

As a user community we should come together and find ways of making it better with or without MS. By this I mean, add-ons or scenery files that replace original/built-in scenery.

My hat goes off to MS, really, they have made the product better than what previous versions were. As a final note, lets be a bit patient and remain positive about the future. In the end, everyone will fall in love with this version as they have with all of the previous ones.

And how much did you pay for this sim? :-roll

I am so sick of these threads. And before you say it, I read them and respond because I choose to. Just as it's your right to post them, it my right to be annoying in them in my own little way.
