Thread: Just a complain about FS2004

Default Just a complain about FS2004

When I got Windows98, I did'nt have to pay the full price, because I had Win95.The same when I bought WinMe, because I had Windows98.And again the same with WindowsXP, I paid just the price of the upgrade.
Why we, that already own FS2002, have to pay the full price of FS2004?
As I've heard around this forum, FS2004 seems to be a upgrade from FS2002.
    No ofense.

Mine came with a rebate for 2002 owners. Better than nothing!

Consider what you get. If the FS series was an upgrade type product, I imagine it would be around $600 for the original software and $99 per upgrade. I'm basing that on things like Office, which I think actually is less complex than FS.

So looked at from that angle I think it's no problem to fork out for each version.

I suspect that Bill Gates enjoys simming and keeps the FS project as a hobbyhorse within the MS corporation. It certainly has little effect on the company's bottom line.

well, that's because FS2004 isn't sold as an upgrade. The people on this forum are saying it looks like an upgrade, not Microsoft.

A rebate form is included with FS2004 for owners of FS2002. So, in one way you can look at it as an upgrade.

I think people are saying it's just an update since the core of the graphics and planes remain the same. However, if this was "just" an update I wouldn't be so impressed with how much better I like FS2004 so far compared to FS2002...

For a mere $50 you can't go wrong with buying it!

Yes, in the US and Canada 2004 comes with a $10 upgrade rebate offer for Flight Simulator 2002 (Standard or Pro). I don't know if there are similar offers in other countries.

If no rebate papers included in the tin, then probably can find it at Microsoft website.

I just bought the UPGRADE to Quickbooks pro 2000 $168.00. It still looks exactly the same as Qbooks 2000 just a few new features that I probably won't use. Why did I buy it? because I want to stay up to date. I would assume that if we were buying upgrades for FS since lets say FS95, we would pay many times the price of a new version. Add that to the fact that upgrades would probably be impossible because of technology built into the sim, could you imagine the nighmares trying to make this work. This forum would be nothing but complaints even from those of use "who get it". I would venture a guess that there are a vast number of members who would gladly pay much more for this product if it were required. There are many people here, who go into this with eyes wide open. We understand what hardware is required to get the most out of each version. As far as upgrading your system for each new version, this is the first release that I can remember where I didn't have to upgrade anything. The sim runs great, much better than 2002. If you have a system that's not capable of running the sim I really don't see where that is a problem of Microsoft or FS9. I bought a mustang last year, but this years model is just an upgrade so why don't I get a new one for the cheap upgrade price? They would think I was nuts.

This is not rocket scientist stuff. If you think it costs too much, don't buy it. Complaining about it here won't make you any richer.

Bingo! I was thinking tonight how far FS has come since my first
experience with FS4..I have no problem at all buying each new version that comes out..each is an improvement over the other and worth every
    penny.
