Thread: GPS

    Default GPS

    Greetings,

    Is it possible to couple the GPS with the autopilot in the Cessna 172? I enter a destination in Direct To, and hit "enter" twice, but can't seem to get the autopilot to respond. I've attempted this with the autopilot engaged and disengaged, etc.

    How do I couple the Garmin 500 with the autopilot and have the a/c fly towards the waypoint/destination?

    Thanks!

    Hi, in FS we have a NAV/GPS switch to select the NAV source. Program your desired route in the GPS, then select GPS with the NAV/GPS switch. The AP is coupled with the NAV setting.

    Man I cant believe im bringing back a 7 year old thread! Anyways Im trying to get a SAAB 340 to have a working GPS. Usually when you click on the icon, it will pop up and display the GPS. However on this panel it wont for some reason? Any idea how to fix it? I figured I would look in the panel.cfg, but had no luck

    If you want to use saab340p.zip, then open the panel.cfg and find...

    Code:
    [Window02]
    Background_color=0,0,0
    size_mm=392,289
    window_size_ratio=1.000
    position=0
    visible=0
    ident=225
    window_size= 0.230, 0.220
    window_pos= 0.770, 0.550

    gauge00=DC8_kln90b!gpsro,  1,0,390,287

    ...replace it with...

    Code:
    [Window02]
    size_mm=456,378
    window_size=0.5
    position=8
    BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
    VISIBLE=0
    ident=GPS_PANEL

    gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,            0,0
    You should be good to go.

    problem solved! Thanks for the help! If this were to happen to me again with a different panel, would I have to use these #'s for it to work? Or does it depends on the panel

    Yes, and yes.

    Those numbers are from the default Baron, so they should always work.

    The problem with the panel.cfg in saab340p.zip is that it is calling for a GPS gauge that you do not have.

    Another panel's problems might be different, with a different fix.

    If you want to learn about how the panel.cfg works, go to this webpage- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555857 and download the "panels and gauges" SDK.

    The included documentation explains all.
