I recently installed fs2002 on my new pc and i am getting a frame rate at about 24-30fps most of the time. I would just like to know what is the possibility that fs2004 will work like fs2002 on my pc.

There shouldn't be much difference. The FS2004 clouds and autogen can drop the framerates a bunch but if you keep an equivalent level of detail to FS2002 I don't think you'll see much of a difference in the FPS.

This is true, I've done comparisons under conditions set as close as possible between sims. The frame killers are going to be in forward VC view, dense auto-gen areas, major weather, and areas like LAX where there are city buildings in various locations in all directions in different groups but all within view at the same time. Check out the smoke in the smoke stacks too.
I posted in a thread two shots taken from the same place under same conditions and the fps differences were less than one.
I agree... if you keep 3d clouds at 30% or less, and cloud cover slider at Heavy or less, and limit cloud draw distance and vis distance to 40-70nm you should see just a slight drop. ANy higher and those clouds take a SERIOUS toll on performance. I dropped from 30+ fps to solid 25 fps in moderate clouds, and 12-17fps in HEAVY clouds.
