As far as I know it's the final thing that will hit the stores.
By the way -- like your banner!

By the way, Drakey, as it seems you are new to this site... for future reference... if you have a question.. before posting it you should press the "Search" at the top of the page where most probably you will find more answers than you can probably deal with. It helps in reducing the endless repetition of questions and provides an answer most often faster than waiting for a reply ( which often are flames telling you research the answer yourself). Hope this will assist you in the future

Going gold is terminology which originated in the record industry. It means that a finalised master disc has been prepared which is to be used as the mold in the manufacturing process of a production batch of CDs (or records, orginally).
As opposed to the 'beta versions' that mark the final stages of the production of a piece of software, which are not mass-produced but made for a select group of testers who look for any possible minor errors or problems that still need to be sorted out before the production of the master disc.
Going "gold" explanation--
Learn something new everyday. I guess I should go home now. ;-)

Thanks all, I feel a lot better now. Gary - I will try to use the search more, yes I am pretty new here and thanks for the tips and comments - the banner was a first attempt with an Ozzie flavour btw. I did try a search for this particular answer - found many references to "Gold" but nothing to explain what it actually meant - no doubt you will correct me if I missed the obvious, if so looks like apologies would be in order (from me that is!).

YEAH...##### forbid you take 2 seconds out of your life to answer the guy's question...gimmie a break...I don't get it, look at what you just wrote, it would have taken you much less time to answer his question...
Chill out, Juicehead, he was only giving a bit of advice which may save time in the future for draky.
Cheers,
No need to apologize, Draky, you searched for the answer, but didn't find what you were looking for. Your only other option was to post :-)
Love the banner btw!
Cheers,
