Is it just me or does it seem that there is one heck of a lot more interest right now in FS2004 then there was prior to the release of Fs2002? JamesJ

I think prior to every release of FS, the hype has been huge! However, I feel that the hype about FS2002 was much bigger than this for several reasons: (These are compared to FS2000)

1/ New graphics engine, graphics improved a hell of a lot!
    2/ ATC, speaks for itself
3/ AI, no more green and yellow planes wondering around sparsely populated airports wondering where the hell the runway is.....
4/ Water.... that actually is water....
    5/ GPS navigation
6/ Autogen which brang the sim to life
    7/ 3D virtual cockpits
8/ New improved resources for developers such as SDK's.
9/ 747 finally bought into the game :P
    10/ Weather dramatically improved.

FS2004 doesnt really bring many new things into the game, except for the obvious new aircraft. All of the points above have been upgraded though, and its these upgrades that have brought the hyperactive simmers on :). I doubt we'll see many BRAND NEW things coming into FS for a while, well until NVIDIA or ATI bring out photorealistic 3D vid cards. Hehehe :D

In my recollection the buzz actually seemed more intense back when 2002 was scheduled to arrive. Maybe that's because people were generally very happy with the excellent 98, and 2000 was in some ways a slightly disappointing release. People were hoping for a more satisfying version with 2002, and got it, so that there's not as much need for the new 2004. Although of course the new weather features and planes are definitely things to look forward to. But hey probably I'm just projecting my personal feelings - and don't get me wrong I'm still pretty pumped about the new release :-jumpy

One thing I remember was the issue of the release date. I remember that it generated some fairly interesting and heated debate, and that is not an issue with FS 2004.
