Thread: Video card for FS2004

  1. Default Video card for FS2004

Well right now in FS2002 I am getting about 8-12fps with my ASUS GeForce2 GTS64meg card. So anyone have a tip for the best video card for FS2004 that would cost under $200. I know the 9800 128 meg is the best and all... but I ain't got $350 to drop on a video card. Thanks alot fellas.

Flight Simulator is more processor based than graphics card, you will mostly see a 5 fps improvement and better detail as well :-)

You would probably see a nice difference using the GF4 Ti-4600 over the board you are using.

Get a Radeon 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro - both are faster than the GF4 series...

The 9500 Pro sounds good if you can still find one. You didn't mention your processor size? That's important if you want accurate information!!

I have a 1.8ghz AMD XP with 512megs of DDR ram.

Set your settings to 640x480 in 3d and see what FPS you get -- then set it to the higher settings and also record the FPS .

The 640x480 reading will tell you approx what frames the CPU can pump out -- and the higher setting readings will give you an idea of how the vid card is holding you back.

If the FPS for 640x480 is good enough for you, then a better vid card will allow you to have the same FPS at higher settings.
