Thread: So current FSUIPC will not work in FS2004?

  1. Default So current FSUIPC will not work in FS2004?

I have seen a few times where beta testers are saying the current release of FSUIPC will not work in FS2004. As we all know this little program is the key to many of much loved add-ons working properly so is this true?

P.S. yes I have herd that the author is working on a paid version that will work in FS2004 but do we have to wait for that?

With each new version of FS, at least as far back as I can remember, the previous version of FSUIPC did not work with it. So, if the current version of FSUIPC does not work with FS2004, this is to be expected, and is nothing new.

Things change with each new version of FS, and this requires FSUIPC to be updated for each new version. This is not at all unique to just FS2004, and we had the same situation with previous versions, as I stated above.

As to Pete Dowson's talks of a paid version of FSUIPC, we will have to see exactly what happens in this regard.

I would prefer not to see ANY speculation in this thread concerning this, out of respect for Pete, and the fact that FSUIPC still remains a 3rd party add-on, regardless of how "necessary" it may be.

We'll let Pete comment on it when the time is right, then move on from there.

Let us remember that we are still a month away from release, so much can happen in that time. :-)

    Hi Guys

I have had FS98 for a good while and now probably going to move to FS2004.

But I have to say that I do not know what FSUIPC stands for and how does it effect FS2004 which I am going to when it is available.

The current version of FSUIPC "WILL NOT" work in Flight Simulator 2004

I haven't paid much attention as to when FSUIPC is actually required. Isn't that module something that's needed for the panels and gauges and not the actual aircraft? Wouldn't swapping out a specific panel with another that doesn't require it solve the problem? I never did like the weather aspects of it anyway and I've never used real weather.

FSUIPC allows other programs (FS Meteo & FSNavigator) to 'talk' to the flight simulator. It integrates add-ons into fs. It also allows you to make certain modifications, i.e. joystick calibration, weather settings, and button assignments outside of the norm. It is not necessary to have it installed when played straight out of the box, but as stated above, some 3rd party add-ons are quite dependant on it. I'm sure there are others that could go into great depth about it, but those are the main points that I mentioned (IMO of course).

    It's already been decided:

Lou, Do you mean this thread, this forum or any forum run by yourselves.
Reason why I ask is, in my opinion, and what I have been led to believe is that these forums are for just that puropse. Also if it qualifies for front page news then surely it qualifies for discussion. What Pete reads in these forums could well be a deciding factor. That is if he is now in two minds.
Of course I do note that you use the word 'prefer' so I could be way off the mark here.

I thought he had already commented on it and made his decision. Again, I don't know him personally and don't speak with him on a regular basis, so it is always possible that I have mis-read or missed something that was posted publicly.

I really hate to do these 'Quote' / 'unquote' replies because they can easily be misconstrood but if I feel, and only if I feel, I have a valid point then I suppose I will, if I must.

Not trying to disect anything you say and please don't take it as so. I just think a little clarification as to whether it was a personal request as opposed to a forum rule.
Personal request i'm OK with but if it is a rule then I seem to be a little misunderstanding of the general rules.

Are we OK to discuss it on the Outer Marker, I haven't visited it lately ........ mmmm maybe I should.

No offence intended and I hope non taken. Just felt I had a valid point.
I will stand corrected, without malice, of course.

At the Outer Marker is fine, but not here.

Also, there's really not too much to discuss until Pete truly finalizes plans, and what has been announed already is not final until more details are available.

    To quote Pete:

PLEASE NOTE. There are currently no more details available for end users. Only developers need to start to become involved now. The software is not yet finished. No licenses nor access keys will be issued before the software itself is finalised, and that will be something like the end of July or during August 2003.

What I want to avoid in the spreading of rumors that my be incorrect.

So I believe my original statements concerning this were quite valid.

Again, at the OM forum is fine. :-)

  9. Default RE: So current FSUIPC will not work in FS2004?

Lou, yours was the last comment on the new version of FSUIPC for 2004 on June 28th. I could't find any other more recent references and since we are now about 3 weeks from release, many of us with yolk/power quad systems need time to adjust.

    So, two questions:

    1. Is there anything new re: the new FSUIPC version (and where would I go to check up on it independently?

If I may ask, what yolk/power quad hardware do you use if you don't mind my asking?

Do you expect it to work under 2004 assuming the new FSUIPC version or has your manufacturer advised that their system WILL NOT work as has FlightLink whose system I use?

I have a 4 module rig including both single and ME power quads and rudders but it never has worked properly as expensive as it is so if there is a "no-hassle" alternative I might bite the bullet and dump the FlightLink system.

I'm posting this hear since FS2004 is the central issue causing the questions.

    Thanks in advance.
    Jim
