Default A thought on the beta framerate...

I have a feeling the final version is going to run much faster than the beta we've seen shots of - here's why:

I was a beta tester for the online game Planetside (an actual tester, not one of the free beta players that got in later) and once the "gold" code was put out for final testing, the framerates skyrocketed because they enabled all the optimizations in the code compiler that would otherwise make the program harder to debug. I'm willing to bet the same thing is true with FS2004. (and I seriously hope it is and we all get surprised by a smooth 30+ FPS)

I sure hope so!! Some of these screens have been scaring me :o

Things like, locked at 15 and they're getting 10........ouch!! I by no means have a "hot" system, but I feel it's reasonable-Athlon XP 2400, 256 DDR2700, GeForce 4 Ti 4200,,,,,,,,,and it runs FS2K2 EXCEPTIOANLLY well.

I'll still buy 2k4 anyways, just like everyone else ;-) ,,,,,,but of course am hoping for the best!

you should really stop worrying about the framerate counter...set the sim up so it flies smoothly nothing less nothing more.. the FPS counter will give you nothing but heartache. also those pics you see are just that pictures...snapshots of a moment in time.. the FPS counter can and will fluctuate, it's too hard to say that what you see in a pic is the way it will be... probably the smartest thing you can do is wait and see what others SAY about the program and how it runs...

Yes, wait and see,,,,,,just wait and see. BUT,,,,,,I can take pictures out the wazoo in FS and NEVER see a fps fluctuation. It's always what I am really getting at the time,,,,,,,,I have YET to see a FS2K4 screen that's like, "34",,,,,,,or "28",,,,,,they ALL are soooooooo low.

And I don't want to have to turn down the graphics TOO much. I mean I can run 2002 wide open (as I do now) and get 30 over most areas,,,,,,,,,I don't want to miss out on all the new auto-gen, etc. by dropping the sliders to 1/4 on my 2ghz machine,,,,,,,

Frames and perfomance have increased. You should see comparable performance as you currently see in FS02. FS04 is VERY tweakable so you can maximize your rigs specs to performance on FS04.
Personally, I quit looking at frame rates, as long as it's smooth, who cares? :-lol
