Thread: FS2004 on CD's or DVD?

  1. Default FS2004 on CD's or DVD?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-24-03 AT 10:00PM (EDT)[p]Reading the FS2004 Preview, it's mentioned that FS2004 is on DVD.

I sure hope FS2004 is offered on CD's as well, as I don't have a DVD drive.

Actually it's written "DVD-cased", which is the nice plastic DVD box, not the standard CD jewel case. Max Payne was a good example of this packaging.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-24-03 AT 11:14PM (EDT)[p]I completely wish they would put out a DVD edition - almost every new system you buy has a DVD-ROM now. I've had one for two years in mine. A single DVD would be much better than 4CDs IMO.

Then people on here that are whining that their 700MHz systems probably won't run FS2004 properly would be really upset if the game only came on a DVD.

Make sure you read "DVD Case" (i.e., the box that everything comes in. The beta came on four CD's.

Actually most new systems do NOT have a DVD since the drive is much slower the a standard CD-ROM and they are advancing slowly since there is hardly any software currently offered on DVD. At present the only good reason for having a DVD installed is if you also have or know someone with a DVD-R / RW so you can read the disks made on it.

Aaah yes.. DVD-cased... the official NO MANUAL INCLUDED case of a new generation.

Don't know about you guys in the US, but here in England just about every game these days is released in a DVD case. FS2002 wasn't but the box was significantly smaller than FS2000's. Seems the days of big boxes are over, goodbye manuals (which is a shame, gives you something to read while installing/loading).

In South Africa FS2002 came in a normal big box. But here, too, most new games come in the DVD case.

When I bought FS2002 shortly after release I ordered it from Flightsim Central in Reno, cos I wanted the english version, and not the local version(I live in Germany)and it came with just a paper sleeve with the three CD's,not even any box of any kind!In Germany they sell it in a box,but I've never seen what's inside, probably mostly nothing except air from Redmond,VA!
