2002 connection with 2004 in MP?

I'm new to the MS series just jumping on board in 2002. Assuming one can not connect to an older series but was looking for confirmation?

I just tried it on my local network, and FS2004 and FS2002 will not connect in a multiplayer session.

thank you very much, I had a feeling it wouldn't work. Looks like it's time for others to buck up or fly both separately :-)
