Thread: FSACOF Clouds

1. Default FSACOF Clouds

Hi Guys,
Im just interested about those FS2004 clouds. What kind of performance do you estimate i will get with a P4 1.6 Ghz, 512 Mb RDRAM, Leadtek Geforce 2 TI 64 MB, Windows XP Home. I know also that i need to upgrade my video card. There seems to be alot of controversy on the subject but can someone give me a solid recommendation? Im considering a Geforce 4 Ti 4800 128 Mb but if there is something better, please let me know.
Thanks Alot!
Regards,

LAST EDITED ON Jun-18-03 AT 00:20AM (EDT)[p]Since they are roughly in the same price range as the Ti4800, I'd look for a Radeon 9500 or 9600 Pro. There have been some problems with the Ti4800 and anti-aliasing. The 9500/9600 Pro will handle AA/AF with better performance anyway.

Of course, if you have a large (19" or greater) monitor, you can try running at 1600x1200 res and you may find that you won't need Anti-Aliasing at that high a resolution. In which case, a GeForce 4 Ti will suit you very well.

EDIT: Just don't expect a gigantic increase in frames from a video card upgrade. The rest of your system looks mid-range at best and you might need to pull a few sliders back to find the right tradeoff between visual quality and performance.

Having a Beta FS2004, I find the clouds better then the old version. My system is a 3.06GHZ with 512MB Ram and ATI Radeon Pro 9700 graphics card.
I set my framerate at 20fps, and it stays at that setting except when looking out the side view. It drops down to 15fps, and this is not constant. I have set the framerate to maximum in the past and seen from 10fps up to 90fps, depending on where you are at. In the Chicago O'hara airport at night with snow, the frame rate drop down to 5fps. I hope the release version has fixed this problem. Also the DC-3, forget about taxing cannot make turns on taxiway. This is another fix.

Could MS' DC-3 have a tailwheel lock? If it does, did you unlock it? I think CFS3 had that option, so it's possible FS2004 might. There should also be a tailwheel lock on the Ford.

I have two questions:

What resolution are you using? And do you or any other beta tester know if having a 256MB video card will give better performance than 128MB with FS 2004? Thanks.

Resolution is 1024x768x32, can go higher without any major drop in frame rate. I prefer this because of the text size. I'm sure a 256MB could give better performance.

Just kidding...

:-lol

I have no idea what to expect. I use an AMD 1.2 GHz. Time to upgrade I think. Right now with FS2002 now complaints. Sliders somewhere in the middle, frames per second locked at 18. FS2004 will surely ask for more processor power, but for how much more...?....
