I recently listened to the AWOS at Kerrville, Texas, which said that the ceiling was at 1700 feet.
I've been away from flying for a while, (OK, a long while), but as I recall it, here in Canada, when they say that the ceiling is 1700 feet, that is above airport elevation. It seems that in the Micro$oft f/s, it is ASL.
That gave me a ceiling of about 83 feet (I made it).
Is it different in the US? Are the airport ceilings given ASL down there?
