Are there any old warbird pilots here? I'm very close to closing the deal on a T-28C Trojan.

Well, I've flown a Stearman and an L-21, but nothing in that category. Good luck...

Congratulations on your new toy!
A friend of mine used to own a T-28C, it was a beautiful plane to fly with well harmonized, smooth and crisp controls. I hope you have a good mechanic, preferably with T-28 experience, look it over before you buy it, there are a ton of electrical and hydraulic systems to maintain in one of those monsters!
Shawn,
It looks like a nice bird. I got a 30 minute flight in a B model when I was living in Lubbock TX. It was a very easy plane to fly and one thing you definately need to have are some good noise cancelling headsets or a good fitting helmet.

Sure, Taylorcraft L-2M and Piper L-4...next to the O-1, the best warbirds ever made.

How much time does the engine have on it? I can't imagine what those must cost to overhaul:-tongue
I had my first day of flight training today, should of got the D model then i would have had ejection seats :-lol, they told me if i ever have to eject, i need to walk out on to the very end of the wing and jump(hope i never have to do that) My flightsuit isnt in yet though, i have a custon helmet, custom flight suit, and custom air mask lol, i cant wait to take to the skies.
She looks nice. When you are all trained up on her take a quick hop over to VT Sometime. I'd love to get a good look at one. I've been thinking of making a nice T-28 for flight sim for quite some time. Maybe a project for later this winter.

Take my love, take my land, Take me where I cannot stand.I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me. Take me out to the black, Tell them I ain't comin' back.
Heres a Pic of the plane, specs, and history of the T-28. Designed in 1949 to replace the AT-6 Texan for all branches of the military, the Trojan was the heaviest and most powerful piston-engine trainer ever projected for primary training. It was also the first U.S. military trainer to have a tricycle gear. The first production, as T-28A, numbered 1,194 planes, then the Navy got their T-28B in 1952, differing in having a more powerful engine to replace the 800hp Wright R-1300, and a two-part canopy, plus structural modifications for duty aboard carriers. For counter-insurgency combat, Trojan was again revised, this time as the single-seat T-28D, with armament and rocket-launchers. As a primary trainer, it was found to be too powerful for new students, and the services had to bring in the Beech T-34 for cadets to get flight instruction for 30 hours before stepping up into the Trojan. Manufactured by North American Aviation, Los Angeles CA.
