  1. Default Strange Action Around Airports

I'm sorry if this is a repeat.

I am running fs2002 with Ultimate traffic.
My system is a 2.8, p4 with 1G of ram and a Radeon 9600 Pro card.

Recently I have started to get a strange action around some of the larger airports, e.g. KEWR, KLAX, KORD etc. I can taxi with no problem, depart and climb. All graphics are great until I reach a flight level of 4000ft.

When I turn to look back at the airport it seems to get a blurry look to it, while all other terrain looks fine, plane included.

Also while landing at these airports I get on final and the frame rates seem to dive. I don't know why? I get to a certain point and start to do my flare and then it seems to pick up and work fine again.

I have gone through my display setting and tried different things that have helped slightly, but no great changes.

I have changed from tri linier to bi-linier filtering and turned off mip mapping. That made a slight improvement.

I turned down my traffic from 100 to 80 and then back and no change there..

I should also tell you that I have my framerates set at 30. Should I move that?

If someone has any ideas I would really appreciate the help.

    Good Flying.

Default RE: Strange Action Around Airports

    Hi,
When I use my old system around airports like LAX the frame rate drops too. (I use an addon scenery for LAX) The framerate drops because of so much eye candy, and I think the system tried to maintain your 30FPS so other areas of graphic suffer, namely the fuzziness. When nbot near a airport with lots of scenery added the frame rates are good, and the detail is much better, less fuzzy and sharper.
Try setting the frame lock to a lower setting like 18 -20 just as a test. Also make sure all drivers are up to date. Setting the sliders for things like high detail or complexity can reduce frame rates too, especially near large airports.
Let us know if this is any help or at least am improvement.
    Take care!
