However, I must say that there's not usually much general aviation pleasure flying going on in this area, but for commerce, this is pretty tough blow. I guess they have it worse in Texas.

yeah I guess so, there are other places for hamburgers. I just didn't know if all these TFRs were worth the trouble, headaches and organization.

    RO Brendan,

what really irkes me is that these BUSH TFRs are popping up well in advance and linger on like a bad taste long after he has passed through.
Sometimes his highness plans change and a TFR is in action without him ever using the darned thing.
AOPA is working hard on making them as reasonable as is possible with all that has changed since 9/11. But as it stands it is every pilots responsibility to make sure they are well clear of them. Unless they enjoy flying formation with F15s and loosing all their hard earned certs.

It is not just the prez who gets TFRs though others of the royal family have smaller restricted airspace.

I can remember vividly when Gore visited Albany International years ago on a snowy day the stink his flight caused. The airport and airspace was swept of traffic when his plane came in and all traffic on the airport was grounded until he was away from the airport. On his departure he was late getting there, a ceremony ran long and then the pilots of his transport argured with Boston Center about the clearannce. For GA planes it was just another divert. For the airlines and commuter planes they either had to hold in bad weather waiting for him to get his royal ##### out of the area or to divert. A lot of planes had to divert because they couldn't risk having the weather turn worse, and eating into reserves. A lot of Republicans were converted that night.

Next time in town they wisely decided to go 8 miles to the west to Schenectady County to the Air Guard base.

Yes.. thats exactly the problem... none of these dignitaries are ever on time, ever. At the company I work at, we had a visit from Sen. Lieberman not too long ago for a company breakfast. We all assembled but didn't start until the Sen. joined us... which was 30 min. later than planned. The food was cold, and I tried to enjoy my cold eggs and while shaking hands. He said his speech and was off again within 25 minutes. Who writes their schedules?

I can just imagine that if we had been an airport that day, that 30 minutes of lateness would definitely cut into the 30min day VFR reserve requirement :)
