Default Airline 'callout' for PMDG 1900D....FS2k2

Although I enter my VA airline in the atc_airline= section of the aircraft.cfg file, it remains silent. No problem with any of my other aircraft in which this has been added.

Does anyone know if PMDG have tweeked their aircraft.cfg file to prevent and airline callout being made or is this another fault in their sound file?

    Any help is appreciated

    Don

    Hi,

I'm sorry I'm not sure of the answer to your question, I just wanted to ask you whether there is actually any kind of fuel gauge on the PMDG B1990D panel. I just bought it, and I may just be blind or crazy so correct me if I'm wrong...I don't think there is a fuel gauge!?

    Regards

    Chris :)

Yes, try.....Ctrl 8.....and the fuel gauges window will open.

Not too impressed with this payware aircraft, the engine sound in the cockpit is rather 'naff'!

    Thanks Don :)

I agree. The aircraft model is fantastic but they really let themselves down as far as the sound is concerned. I'm also not too impressed by the 2D panel - oh well, it is the best B1900D available anyway.

    Thanks again

    Chris.

    Don & Chris,

From memory the B1900D aliases the default Beech King Air sound. Fortunately there are improved sound files available. Check out at flightsim.com and do a search for "Leon Medado".

Don - I agree that life doesn't get much better than a flight in a Beaver. Its just about my favourite plane (especially in the Bush.) Pity there aren't many over here ! Do you have Sean Rossiter's book ?

    Thanks Alastair

I think I will alias the sound for the 1900D as I am sure there is better to be had.

Thanks also for the link to the Beaver book. No, I haven't got it myself but may now well consider it. Looks good.

I did solve my 'callout' problem for the 1900D. Feel a bit of a fool really as I had added to the .cfg
    atc_airline=
    atc_flight_number=

    but forgot to add atc_id=

    All works now!

By the way Chris, I have added an 'ATC icon' on the panel just below the 'map icon' and it's from the default Lear gauges if you would like to try it. Does help!

    gaugeXX=SimIcons!ATC Icon, 1007,555,24,24

    best wishes

    Don

Thanks for that Don :) I'm putting that in the panel.cfg now.

Your welcome, Chris, just handy to have all of the icons togther!

By the way, hope you don't mind me being nosy but I will have to consider a new PC soon and just looking around at the moment. I have
    900 mhz processor
    512 RAM
    GeForce 2 GTS graphics
    large HD
    Windows 98
    all a bit sluggish really.

run FS 2002 (which I want to keep as it is really fine tuned now!). Not much interested in FS 2004.

I see the specs of your system. Are you happy with it and does it run well (fps etc). Some of my airports are downloads because they are better also the aircraft so they are pretty greedy.

Just wondered if your system is a 'smoothie'?

    Hi Don,

My system is brand new. I struggled running FS2002 for 2 years on a 633Mhz Celeron and 192 MB Ram (cringe) and I did get OK rates with all the eye candy off.

My new system is great, and runs really well. I usually average about 40 FPS with sliders about 3/4 of the way to full. It has really changed how much I enjoy flying the sim. You'd be amazed at how much better you can fly the aircraft when the motion of the scenery, and the insturments on the panel are smooth.

I was recommended the P4 processor for games, and so far it has turned out to be the right choice. I am not a computer expert, but from my own experience, the system I am running is perfectly suitable to run FS 8 or FS 9 and run them well.

I have been told by others that my graphics card is the limiting factor in my system - and that by removing this bottleneck and getting a Radeon 9000 graphics card would see my system running even better. However, the flasher cards are VERY expensive, and so in my opinion, the FX5200 is an affordable and adequate card.

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask more questions when you are planning on upgrading, as many people here have a lot of experience.

    Regards

    Chris :)

    Thanks Chris

I have almost made up my mind on the system I want but still pondering as it's not cheap! I want to really make my FS 2k2
    a good as I can!

I'll get in touch through this thread and keep you informed

    All the best

    Don

Does the _NZ mean you are in New Zealand, I'm in a part of really 'Olde England' at Norfolk!?
