Thread: New Graphics Driver and Display Problem

  1. Default New Graphics Driver and Display Problem

I have recently installed the new drivers for my Nvidia graphics card (nVIDIA GeForce2 MX400) and now I am getting a problem my atc and panel display in the cockpit view.

Everything works great. The graphics are great, but when I start to decend my atc starts to break up and my panel goes crazy with colors.

    Has anyone had this problem?
I am thinking I may have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of fs2002..

    Any help would be welcomed.

    Thank you

Do you run the sim in 16 bit colours? if so try running at 32 bit ,
Do you run it with any form of anti alising ?

please give some more PC spec info as well .

    Hi again

I should really have given you a bit more info about the problem .....it is a know problem that running the sim in 16 bit colours with AA enabled will give you some corrupt panel graphics (it might happen with out AA as well ..i cant quite remember as its been a long time since i had this) , in that you will see some pinky colours on the panel , when you change to 32 bit colours these will go and the panel will display normally .
There is a problem with Anti alising and the red words and ATC text letters with nvidia drives below and including the 41.09s , if you update to say 43.51s etc then these fix the problem .

    Thanks for your help..

    I had my settings on 1024x768 16bit..
Changed it to 32bit and it is working again.

One other thing is that now my scenery is what looks to be
jumpy in the distance.. I have everything to the max on my settings.

Do you think I should try 800x600?
Do you think there is one that I should back down a bit?

    PC specs.

    P4 2.8 processor
    512 ram
    nVidia 64mg.

Once again thanks for the help.

    Hi

I will be honest with you ......your grahics card is the bottle neck in your PC , the CPU is fine ,so is your memory but the GF 2 mx 400 just cant handle the sim with max detail sorry .
Things to try..hmmmmmmm lets see .
1 ) Lock your frame rates to about 18-20 , mines at 20 and its really smooth at that setting.
2 ) One of the main frame rate hogs is the AI Traffic , try turning that down to about 50% or lower
3 ) In global scenery choose the medium or high setting .

Run the sim and see how you go ......is it more smoother ? If its really smooth and you feal it can hack more detal then start increasibg one of the slidders a bit more and see how it flys .

What sought of flying will you be doing ? if you like flying airliners ( like me ) then to be honest leave the Auto gen scenery slidder at normal , you wont need to see the buildings on the ground from FL310+ and it will improve FPS just increase the scenery complexity slidder to the max as this improves Airport buildings .

It takes time to get the sim running at a good FPS , experiment with the slidders but move one at a time and see what affect it has .

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I'm having this problem and it's only just started happening. I have an ATi Radeon 9800 XT and the text looks distorted on the screen. I have the latest drivers and it never used to happen before. Can anyone explain why this might have happened and how to fix it please?

    Regards

    Hi

Being a Nvidia card owner and not an ATI one im afraid i cant help you too much other say did it happen after you upgraded your drivers to the 4.4s ( i think thats the latest ATI one )? if so then try downgrading them . Other ATI users will beable to help you more .

It's a new computer I have. I upgraded the drivers before I even installed FS2002. At first it was fine but since yesterday, the ATC text and the text in red lettering (frame rate, coordinates, brakes etc) is all unsmooth. The only thing I have installed yesterday is some scenery and an aircraft. So I'm not sure what has provoked it.
