Default Force Feedback 2 unable to neutralize control surfaces

Desperately in need of help. Force feedback2 stick stopped working after approx two years. Loading fltsim 2k,2k2, or 2k4 throttle immediately goes to full on, ailerons and elevators either full up or down, unable to fair the control surfaces. Flying in this condition is impossible. Uninstalled fltsim and forcefeedback2 numerous times and reinstalled same no help. Msn gaming site no help. Purchased a new stick FFB2 and likewise no help. Tried both sticks on another computer (XP) and both sticks worked fine. My system ME 1.4 12meg dram,GeForce2 Ultra. Totally at a loss, have no idea wherer to turn, really miss my sims. Any help would be greatly appreciated. GROUNDED.

    //

Rename the FS2002 cfg. file (located in main 2002 folder) to BKFS2002.

Then Start 2002 and it will build a new cfg. file, hopefully re-configuring your jotstick......

Other areas to check > Delete the MicroSoft joystick using the START menu "Add and Remove" program, then manually delete the Microsoft Hardware folder in your program files. Then re-install the joystick using the CD that came with it.

    > Check in the simulator that all the appropriate box's are checked ie> "enable Joystick" > "Null Zones" > "sensitivity" > "Test Forces" ETC.

    >Make sure your start-up Aircraft has the "force feedback" section in the aircraft cfg. file.

    >Make sure the Auto Pilot is NOT turned on in your start-up Aircraft......

    Let us know,

Sorry to shortstop, but I have within the past week had almost the same problem with CH Prod.USB FS yoke ( CH rudder pdls and thrttl unaffected). I get uncommanded vigorous elevator inputs: full up/ full down (mostly up).

I tried the FS2002.cfg rename suggestion, no luck. All calibration windows, including control panel, have been tried, no luck. I am using FSUIPC (registered) and the 'eliminate spikes' selections on the tech. page have no effect.

I recently installed some great looking payware KSAN scenery and found it screwed up heading indication on the HSI, but there was an easy and effective fix posted on the scenery's website. Therefore, I thought there may be a correlation between recent scenery installs and the elavator issue. All recent scenery additions were deleted, no luck. All recent aircraft additions were deleted, no luck.

I did find duplicate joystick entries in the FS2002.cfg file. Those were deleted, no luck. If I 'disable' the yoke via the FS2k2 settings menu, the problem goes away. Conversely, joystick enabling causes the problem to immediately return...this happens whether the yoke is plugged in or not. A new yoke has not solved the problem.

If anything, these uncommanded elevator inputs have actually gotten worse, to the point that FS is just about unusable. Changing a/c does not alleviate the problem.

I have been putting off installing FS9 due to the huge amount of work already placed in a very good FS2k2. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Funny thing is, im having a bit of bother from my FF2 aswell, the force's are coming on/off intermittantly during gameplay.

Just built a new comp and wonderd whether the USB sockets were dodgy but ive got 4 USB ports on the back plate of mobo and no matter which one i put the joystick into the same thing happens, sometimes the force's are there and sometimes not :-(

When i load a flight up the force's are always working to start with e.g. when moving along taxiways/runways (ground bumps) but even then it sometimes stops working, and in the air sometimes the stick will go really stiff and then all of a sudden it goes completely limp even during turns etc.....
    Tried uninstalling re-installing etc..........

Funny thing is the force's did work all the time untill i installed a firewall. But now even disabling the firewall before flying doesn't make any difference's.

I did start to wonder whether this was related to a recent windows update file. Im using Win98se at moment.

I’ve experienced trouble here too. It probably started with installing the O/S, then adding an aircraft and certain scenery files. All my attempts to fix the problem have been to no avail and in the control panel I still get the error message that my game controller is not connected correctly or cannot communicate with the computer. If I move the entire FS2002 folder then cold boot the pc (not just a restart), move the FS2002 folder back to its correct location, and restart the sim, everything usually works correctly. I’ve still got the above error message and haven’t solved the underlying conflict but that will have to wait for another day.

I also suspect that in some cases conflicts remain because not all the relevant files are completely deleted. Using uninstall software may assist.

I believe that the problem might be that an add-on (scenery, a/c, whatever) has caused the elevator (in my case) control settings in FS2k2 itself to be altered. Using a calibration window provides no relief.
The problem is I have no idea what line to correct (and what values to enter)in the .CFG files that will return the sim to a semblance of controllability.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to begin attempts to edit ANY .CFG file to alleviate uncommanded elevator inputs, and what values are default, or close to it?
Any and all attempts that I mentioned in my prev. msg have failed. Latest attempt was to remove all gauges that were modified since the approx date this trouble appeared. Sadly, no remedy there, either.

Thanks again to all that take the time to help out other simmers in this forum.

    Martin
