Default Strange AI problems, won't load...

    Hello,
Im having problems with my AI traffic - It just won't show up. Recently, I had to reinstall my FS2002 so smartly, I backed up all my AI aircraft, (ProjectAI), my Aircraft, Airport and Flightplan.txt files. These plans worked fine before btw.
Now I put the planes back into the Aircraft directory, compiled, loaded 100% AI and went flying...Nothing, no AI. Tried to recompile again. Same story.

    Any ideas?

Check your drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft folder for default.dp and drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\SCENEDB\ATC\Scenery folder for traffic.bgl. If missing, retrieve from your fs2002 CDs using an unzipping program. Search the *.cab files for the above files and place in the folders noted.

NOTE: If you replace the traffic.bgl located in your drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\SCENEDB\ATC\Scenery folder with the default from your fs2002 CDs, it will remove any AI Updates you have installed.

    Thanks for your reply, WSeiffert...
I got some really strange results. I put my default traffic.bgl file into the FS2002/scenerydb/atc/ folder, and the default traffic worked fine - Landmarks, Soar and all those cool airlines ;-) . So I compiled my old flightplan.txt aircraft.txt and airport.txt - result? As if I had done nothing. The default keep showing up. Strange isn't it?

    Update - strange problems continue...

After I posted the above reply, I went and Decompiled the flightplans from the Traffic.bgl and it was the right flightplans and aircrafts.
Next thing I tried recompiling it again, still the same flightplans.

So I tried only a chunk of the flights from my large flightplan.txt - only the Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz flights. Compiled, loaded FS2002 at Montreal YUL (which should have been crowded with AC planes), but low and behold, default flightplans again...
Am I doing something wrong? This always worked before...

Just a thought: When I first got AITM to do my decompile/compile process after tweaking all my flights and planes, I had same issue. I didn't realize that AITM was compiling just fine, but sticking the flightplans.txt into the folder where AITM resided (in my own separate folder outside FS2002). So now I always copy the current plan from this folder back into my FS2002/scenerydb/atc/traffic or whatever the path is.........:7

    I'm not using AITM
    I put my Compiler.exe and Flightplan.txt, Aircraft.txt and Airport.txt right into the FS2002\scenedb\atc\scenery folder. Surely this isn't a problem?

    Thanks for your suggestions...

Ok, I'm reaching here, but I'm just trying to cover all grounds:
When you re-installed, and re-added everything...did you decompile everything first, then make your edits, then compile everything? I know when starting from scratch, you have to decompile your flightplans.txt just once to get all the appropriate files layed out. Then make all your changes, edits, etc..then compile. Then going forward, you never have to decompile again, just make edits and compile. Forgive me if I am off track, but It was just a thought! :7
    Good luck...

That might have been the problem because originally, I just compiled the flightplans on top of the old ones without decompiling, but when I decompiled them later on, it was the flightplans that I was trying to load, so that dosen't seem to be the problem.

The Traffic.bgl is correct but strange flights are showing up...I dont get it.

Thanks again for your help, but Im not sure this one's ever going to be solved...
