Thread: Add on scenery

    Default Add on scenery

When I put an addon scenery into the ADDON folder of FS2002, sometimes I get the name of the scenery in the Addon section of FS2002 but somtimes there is nothing (no name) in de Addon section. Is there someone how can solve this problem ?

Not necessarily a problem. One situation that causes this is if the add-on scenery is for an airport that FS already recognizes. In that case, just call up the airport in the normal way.

Some add on sceneries don't unvip into a named folder but you end up with one scenery file and one texture file and sometimes a read me txt and id txt or a bgl file etc. What i do is make a new folder with the name of the scenery and copy and paste the scenery and texture folders into that and then copy that into Addon Scenery in FS2002, that way it should appear in the menu when you try to use the scenery library. That way seems to work with 99% of addons.

I do that as well with a slight variation. With an ever growing pile of add-ons, I've taken to grouping them by area. For example I have one entry in the Addon File for all of my BC strips(28 at last count). Every new addition is simply added to it. Scenery to scenery file and texture to texture file. I always allow overwriting of the textures as most are used over and over.

I also make sure to stick each new readme fle in a document folder under BC strips. THat way I can always find out how to get to the specific strip I'm interested in flying.

BTW, one of my favorite starting spots is Squamish, BC (CYSE). Between the neat addon scenery, FSGenesis' terrain mesh, and Sky World se clouds, it is one of the more beautiful spots around.
