Thread: Advanced users, sound intermittence problems

Default Advanced users, sound intermittence problems

All sliders maxed, only when I add heavy clouds from low ceiling to crusing altitude, then engine sounds whether prop or jet tend to stutter, likewise ATC traffic stutters as well.

Intel P4, 2.0GHz
19" .24 pitch at 1280x1024 at 100MHz
RAM at 2.0GHz DDR SDRAM at 800MHz
Installed on 30GB HD at 7,200RPM
GeoForce III 64mb w/latest updates
Soundblaster Audigy 24 bit
Virtual memory altered (windows X/P pro recommeding) 3,076mb

In areas of high scenery density, (like Airport 2003) or N.E. Caribbean addon's this sound stuttering is more pronounced unless low level clouds are removed.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you gentlemen.

Is that an onboard sound chip? If it is thats your problem almost certainly.
The CPU is struggling to manage FS, and when you make it do the sound as well, it cant do it.

Is your harddrive more than 20GB full?

Initially yes, and you're right, onboard sound chip was terrible not only for FS but everything, hence installed Soundblaster Audigy - 24 bit early on.

Keep trying guys.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-06-03 AT 08:14AM (EDT)[p]I have that problem every once-iin-awhile, but hitting ALT+ENTER and then back to full screen clears it right up. I've got the onboard sound chip. I think it's about time I get a sound card so I can free up a little bit of my CPU resources.

No, only 17.8GB of 30GB, however you given me an idea, I do have quite a number of different aircraft installed. Keep them coming guys, all ideas are being considered.

Thanks.

Done the usual?
- RTFM (probably doesnt apply. But you never know)
- Check FAQs
- Updated drivers?

I cant think of anything else at the moment.

RTFM - ? And FAQ of Flight Simulator? Or Flightsim.com? And finally update drivers of Soundblaster, yes. Thanks for your continued information Anthony.

Otherwise I will resort to completely formatting all drives and reintall Windows XP, and all other programs.

Thank you again, keep it coming guys.

RTFM: Read the F***ing Manual. Its used when someone doesnt look in the manual for soemthing that is quite obviously there.
This however, wasnt what I meant. RTFM is easier to write that "Have you checked the manual?"
:D

Ummm...do a search of google or seomething for this problem. Eg "stuttering Audioblaster" or whatever it is.
FAQ of device. Go to the home page of that device and have a look around there.

Hope that helps!
