The ATI9500 blew the FX5600 away, according to this review

The 9500 Pro packs more punch than the 9600. More bandwidth and such. Also cheaper. Can be had for around $200. While CPU is important, so is a good powerful video card if you want to fly without jaggies and blurries. Course, you can spend a little more and get a 9700 Pro. Best buy right now for the money. IMHO

You might want to consider a GF4 Ti-4600. Some people think that they are not supported by DX9, but they are. I know I have one running on DX9 and FS2002.

Here are some links to benchmarks to help you in your dicision.

I'm considering which way to go myself. I've got a ti 4600 128 on my p4 1.8, and it has performed really well. I was surprised to read the review where it outperformed the fx5600 -at least in some tests. I'm building a new system with a 3.06 800 mhz fsb etc and am having trouble deciding.

The 9500 pro looks good, though, and here in OZ, it's about $600 cheaper than a 9800!!

My advice is an ATI or a NV TI series. The FX line seems to be haveing some problems from what I read on other forums. Best deal right now IMO is the ATI 9700 Pro. Especially for better image quality.

It seems to me that NV and ATI have done a complete role reversal in the last year. If you had told me this time last year that I would be recommending an ATI card I would not have believed you.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-03-03 AT 01:34PM (EDT)[p]Yea ATI cards are better now. I had a Readeon 8500 and experienced many problems, and after upgradeing to my GF4 TI-4600 I have much fewer problems.

Now I could reccomend and ATI card, but a year ago I would frown on them.
