Thread: Celeron processors?

  1. Default Celeron processors?

    hello....

well that day has come....my wife has decided she wants her own pc for her business. this means she gets to have our current AMD 953 machine and i get to order a new one!

now...i went from a pentium2 to an AMD processor and have no complaints about either. Dell is advertising a great deal, but its with a 2.2G Celeron processor. haven't heard too much about celeron's.....

anybody have any input on celeron vs. AMD or pentium? it would be appreciated!

    thx
    chris

    dificult one Sir.

Up to about 2.2 ghz, the amd and intel are very similar in performance - (that is the amd pr rating and the intel clock) - above that, when you get into the 533 fsb p4s, and certainly the newer 800 fsb p4's the amd is left behind.

what is your budget, ??... and are you prepared to build one yourself ?.

budget = definetely under $1000, obviously the lower the better. the deal Dell has on the celeron is $499 for the box AND monitor. i could probably go a couple hundred above that. i'll be bringing my memory, video card (ti4200 128m), and xtra HD (100g) from the other machine to the new one so the money would mostly be for the processor and monitor.

build my own = probably not. it doesn't appear i have alot of time on this. ....and i want to get one before she changes her mind ;-)

the wife wanting a 2nd pc is a rarity...gotta take this and run if ya know what i mean....

    thx for your help

If you are the kind of person who sits down on their computer and types up documents in Microsoft Word...Celeron would be a good deal but if you want to play games you have to get in the game! Like ATI tells you get in the game! lol you get my point get a GeForce 4 and ATI Radeon 9700 PRO or 9800 PRO and a fast system p4 iether a 533mhz mobo or a 800mhz mobo and lots of memory already there the budget can easily cross the $1000 line but for your own sakes of enterntainment it's well worth it remember don't just buy one to play FS ... buy one that can handle all games!
