Thread: Removal of Virtual Cockpit

1. Default Removal of Virtual Cockpit

LAST EDITED ON May-28-03 AT 03:27PM (EDT)[p]Hello friends,
I downloaded the great C118 files, and they are great. My question to anyone that may help is; the download came with a virtual cockpit
and I wish to use one of T. Gibsons DC6 panels. So far so good, except that when in cockpit mode the virtual bmps are visable. In other words when I look at the front right or left during a turn I see the images of the virtual cockpit. As usual thanks to anyone that can help. Oh, any suggestions on a good panel for the C118.
They go back to my day but my mind is slipping. Thanks.

You cannot remove the virtual cockpit because it is part of the model itself.

The virtual cockpit should add more reaslism to your flying ... BMPs take a ton of memory and you will notice that there is a short pause before you can switch to the view because fs2002 has to load it...not only that in the past i've had countless crashes using bitmaps as side views many reviews have recommended to strip off the BMPs because they slow things down and eat more ram...a would welcome a virtual cockpit rather than a paralized bitmap image...in the VC you can pan around and see things changing.

The VCs are becoming a problem now with many people everyone wants to remove it...how must the developer feel knowing that he designed that VC for nothing and every one else just wants to get rid of it ... even the beautifull gMax wingviews most people here have come in asking how they can get rid of them...I would prefer to fly with a gMax internal wing view than with a bitmaps...if you ask me bitmaps are just too dull.

Is "cannot" synonymous with "impossible" here? I'm having the same issue with a fighter that I really like but whose vc, for lack of a more colorful word, sucks. Is there no file tweak/hack or anything else that can be done to eliminate the vc and keep the bird?...

Open the main fs2002 cfg file. Scroll down till you see the "See Self=1". Change it to "=0". Gets rid of all the virtual side panels when flying in 2d pit. You'll still have the VC and VC side panels in 3d mode.

Try reading this thread. Several different suggestions including a hack using a hex editor. Boy I sure wish I could remember how to use the old DOS program "debug."

YES!!.... Me sooo HAPPY!!... The hex editor worked flawlessly, the offending VC is history. Thanks for the thread, and to adlion994 for the hex ed tips... See ya, I'm taking the A-4 on a cross country... And to n4gix: "Cannot" is not an option...

Bill,
I found out how to do it, just by renaming folders.

Well I will not be adding a VC to my 757 being created in gMax ... I can see that some people do not like the VC at all maybe some internal wing views?

I'm sorry to hear that. VC is the only way to fly. Yes, there are few that dont like them, but then there are pleanty of others like me who wont even think of downloading an aircraft that doesnt have a VC to fly in. The thing that I just dont understand is why those MelJets dont have a VC, yet they have a virtual cabin. I would love to download one, but I would never use it since it doesnt have a VC. The virtual cabin is a waste of time and processing power, IMO, since I want to fly the plane, not walk around and be a passenger.
