looking for quick fix here

a friend of mine has just had his new Asus ti4400 delivered and installed the latest drivers he has are the 40.72, until I get to him in 8 days time.

in the settings it's telling him that its only running 2x not x 4 and his 3d mark is only 10,100 on xp 2000 system (i'm getting 9900 on the ti4200)

we have tried uninstalling drivers re-enstalling drivers, making sure motherboard bios says agp x4
installing latest Gigabyte 7VTXE MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS, The via 4x fix patch but still it say x2 on the nvidia display panel.

looking for possible fix before i visit
