Thread: AI Traffic Mess

1. Default AI Traffic Mess

I have just really begun adding AI flights and aircraft to FS2002 and I have found it to be great fun. I know that if I turn down the traffic percent in the ATC options menu I don't have as many aircraft. Where I run into trouble is ATC often lumps these flights together so they approach in groups of three or four and then most aircraft must go around. Is there a way to enable a holding pattern? Any other advice for this AI newbie? Thanks!

Finally the UA 777 can depart after a 18 minute departure delay.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-29-03 AT 01:11PM (EDT)[p]You can't put the AI in a "hold". You can however space your traffic apart using one of the many popular traffic utilities. I use AITM. Free download, and you can stagger/edit your flight times on your existing flights.

Other ways to get around this would be: If airport has multiple runways, set one up for departures, and one for arrivals. You'll need AFCAD, another wonderful free utility that is quite simple to use.
Or, again with AFCAD, create an overlay (or download one if available)for your airport to direct some planes to one runway, some to another. Sounds confusing, but it's not really. This would ease the congestion considerably!
Happy to help if you need more assistance...:7

Another thought is to check your flightplans and make sure you do not have multiple or double flights arriving and departing at your airfields..! :7

Hi Qballbandit,
I work alot with AI traffic, and have the same problems at times. Try downloading this and using it, it will check for duplicate flights, helps somewhat. Also, one of the worst things I hate about AI traffic is when you are ready to go at the end of the runway, and the tower makes you wait for 1 or 2 aircraft on final approach, that are way out yonder. Anyway, try this:FS2002 - FS2002
FS2002 TTools Companion

FS2002 TTools Companion v2.0. A simple program that allows you to easily sort and merge the contents of the files that are created by the TrafficTools decompiler. Also removes exact duplicate entries from these files and allows you to easily change aircraft numbers in these files. Also includes a tool to evaluate flightplans for errors and efficiency.
