Ok, here is my whole horrific tale:
on Sunday, I tried installing a Logitech Wingman Extreme gameport joystick which I had borrowed from some friends.
Everything goes smoothly until the installation tells me to restart the PC. I restart it and the installation tells me to connect the joystick to the computer. Fine, I do this and click on "Next". The computer freezes. I reboot and everything seems to be allright, but it freezes again. Strange, I think, this has never happened before. I reboot again and it freezes yet again. I reboot a few more times and it freezes a few more times. Well, you get the general picture.
I try taking the installation CD-ROM out and disconnecting the joystick but it still doesn't work. i decided along with my dad that we should try to reinstall Windows 98. We do and it still doesn't work. We've started to panic now. We get a message saying:
"VFAT Device Initialisation Failed:
A device or resource required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue loading.
System halted."
I know that VFAT has something to do with the file system but what does this message mean?
I is now impossible for us to turn the PC on let alone use it. This is an emergency people! I need to use FS soon.
Does this happen with all wingman extreme joysticks?
Here is my basic system specs:
AMD Athlon 1200 Mhz CPU
512 MB RAM
ATI Rage Fury/Xpert 2000 Pro 32 MB video card
There's more but I can't remember right now.
Can anyone help me? It would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
