Terrain out of focus

I've just upgraded to a Radeon 9000 Pro and 510 DDR memory and although I'm very pleased with the improved frame-rate, the ability to crank pretty much everything up to max and the overall improvement in appearance, I have a problem with focus. Any terrain far ahead is sharp, where I've been is sharp but where I am is out of focus. (I have max. visibility at 70 and extended terrain textures on) This happens at any height up to 8000 feet ( I haven't been higher, I'm trying to enjoy my Lago meshes). Is there anything I can do to remedy this?
