Thread: Ok New Machine

  1. Default Ok New Machine

Just got delivered a new Dell 8250 2.8Ghz with a Radeon 9700. I know for sure Dell did not install the most updated drivers. Can you guys tell me what are the most recent drivers for this card and where I can get them?

Also, what type of frame rates should I expect? I am upgrading from a PIII 1.1Ghz and a GeForce 3. I can't wait to get home so I can load up Flightsim.

    Thanks for your help guys.

I lock my framerates at 30 and I get good performance and good quality.

    Default RE: Ok New Machine

    Hello, Bronx,
I've had a similar system for about 2 months now: Dell 8250 2.8, 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9700 TX.
I'm very happy with the system and have yet to change/update anything. This tends to be my conservative approach, plus I notice even ATI says something like "don't download this driver unless you are having issues with your current one..."
And isn't it fun how "issue" has replaced the word "problem" in our language, just as "no problem" has replaced "thank you."
I agree with the earlier posting about performance. I have it set for 25 frames/sec and it's silky smooth even sightseeing midtown Manhattan.
    Regards.
