Thread: Jetway Help

  1. Default Jetway Help

I always see people using jetways in their flightplan. I think maybe I should start using them too. Instead of just VOR's and intersections and such. I use FSNav mostly for making flightplans and navigation. I see them all over the place but what is the correct way to file them?
Also why are some green, tan, blue or red?
    Thanks for your help.

    Default RE: Jetway Help

The basic idea with jetways, wether high or low, is to pick up the jetway as soon as you can from your exit point of your departure, and connect jetways all the way to your destination. Break off the jetway as late as possible to the entry for your arrival. This is taking into account SID's and STAR's of course.

Mostly, and I say again, MOSTLY, VOR's are used to start your track along a jet way, and then exit. You of course can follow a jetway along as you see fit, making sure not to go through an MOA, or RESTRICTED areas and such. You don't have to follow one particular jet way all the way through, either. You can split to another one via an intersection of the two. Also, they are not always the most direct route either to your destination, but that is just how it is done sometimes.

As far as the color coding is concerned, I really don't know what the difference is. Is that in FSNav? In the real world, they are labelled as UPPER or LOWER so you know the difference with "U" or "L" as the first letter in the name of the track. The charts are also split up between High and Low as well. One showing High and the other showing Low.

    Hope that helps some.

In FS Nav, the Yellow one are Jet Airways, or high altitude (above FL180), and the Blue ones are Victor Airways, or low altitude (below FL180)
